Beyond my education and training, my practice is focused on building connection with mind, body, and spirit through trauma informed methodologies. Whether you are facing struggles from the past or, you just need a place to feel accepted, understood and validated – we will work together to create the goals that will guide you towards the outcomes you want to reach.

Hello, my name is Robin L. Goertzen, and I am a Provisional Psychologist and Registered Counselling Therapist based in downtown Grande Prairie, Alberta. With a deep commitment to the mental health and well-being of our community, I have recently opened my private practice, RLG Counselling Services Ltd. In addition to my private practice, I work as a Mental Health Therapist for Recovery Alberta.

For the past eight years, I have served as a volunteer advocate for the Western Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (WARVSS), where I support victims and their families while collaborating closely with the judicial system. My background as a trained community support worker has equipped me with the skills to address mental health needs across various professional, organizational, political, and community settings.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Athabasca University, with a focus on Cultural Diversity, Indigenous Studies, and Adolescent Development. I also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Forensic Psychology, graduating with distinction from Capella University. My graduate studies included a strong emphasis on adolescent populations, cultural and social diversity, restorative justice, and trauma-informed practice modalities. In my private practice, I work with youth, adults, and couples to navigate the complexities of mental health challenges. My approach is client-centered, and I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Gottman Couples Therapy (Levels 1 and 2), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, Restorative Justice Practices, and Neurodevelopment and Attachment-Based Approaches.

I am particularly passionate about supporting our senior community and their unique needs. For clients with mobility issues, I offer the option of in-home sessions. Additionally, I specialize in providing support for adults coping with the challenges of having addicted children, creating a safe space for them to discuss their experiences and seek professional guidance.

At the heart of my practice is a focus on building a connection between mind, body, and spirit through trauma-informed methodologies. Whether you are dealing with past struggles or simply need a space where you feel accepted, understood, and validated, I am here to work with you to set goals and guide you toward the outcomes you desire.

I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward healing and personal growth.
